Looking forward to the 2011 reunion. Just found this website! It is great!

Takes me back!!
Grew up here in the early 60's - would love to see photographs from that era. I remember playing hide and seek with my brother in the "underground" cabanas and story time on the great patio with a danish. Great cast iron tubs that you could swim laps in, the saltwater pool, italian sausages from the boardwalk and the band on the bandstand on the weekends. We used to sit on the huge blocks of ice that were delivered for the restaurant's use.
Just discovered the site today 10/6/10

I am digging up old P-House photos to be posted asap......John , Mary Beth Paul, Willie and Eileen Ryan. Shrewsbury Drive Rumson 1969-1980
Looking at the photos I know all these faces - names are fuzzy - what a great place to spend the summer.
Hello Frends!
Thanks to Suzie Nash, I have rediscovered Peninsula House. I left NJ at 17 and have never really returned. U of Miami, CA, TN and now FL again.
I am still swimming - a lot, up to 30 miles a week.
Hope to see everyone at the reunion in 2010!

Hello,
My name is Doug Carney. I am Nancy Johnson's grandson and Audrey Johnson Carney's son. I have many fond memories of the P house and thanks for the wonderful site and photos so I can relive some of them. I live in the Philadelphia suburbs as does my mother and father. As you may know my mother grew up in the Peninsula House. My earliest memories are circa 1963! It was a very erie place in the winter time too.
Thanks again!

Just trying to get to get back to Mike H's web address for the old postcards.
Hello everyone!
What a fabulous reunion! I am so glad I was able to arrange to come. I would have been so sad if I had missed it. It was a GREAT idea, a long-time coming & much-anticipated event. I was so happy so many people were able to make it.
Thank you to everyone who had a hand in setting it up.
Keep me in the loop, please. I know I'm a long ways away but would definitely come back again for another reunion or similar event. Hopefully, we'll see some of the people who couldn't make it this time at the next reunion!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Wow! What a blast from the past!
Just came across this site a couple of weeks ago. I'm always checking up on the old 'hood. I remember almost everyone from all the names on the guest list. My heart dropped. I like the old faded color photos on the site from the 1960's. Still going through the reunion photos trying to match up the present faces with the old names. How could I forget coach John Eckdahl? I tried out for the swim team one season and lasted about 3 days. Just wasn't built for it.
Just throwing thoughts out here as they race into my head. My mom and dad were Milli and Big Al of "Milli's" fame. So you all know the story.
I remember Big Al and Ed Murphy meeting at Weisman's many Sundays for coffee and donuts, and to get the Sunday papers, then they'd walk back across the street and sit on the P-House veranda and Big Al would fall asleep in one of the big white rocking chairs.
So sorry to hear about the passing of Mike Love.
On the same sad note, Milli passed in 1990, and Big Al in 1999.
I have some old black and white P-House photos from the 1960's and will try to post them if I ever get around to it.
Also a cool aerial shot of the P-House in a post card from the early '60's which I will link in the next post.
Best to all,
Mike Hruska

What a wonderful evening!!! The party committee did such a GREAT job !!!
I can't believe that 30 to 40 years have past by, but many people looked the same as they did way back when.
A lot of good memories came back looking at the slides and films. Weren't those ladies tank suits just ever so flattering ?!??!
If we do it again, I will be glad to help out.
Again, great job !!!!!

Just a Big Thank You to John and Lolly for taking the time to plan a great party. Those not there, there will be another chance, I think.
Evryone looked great, the time has been good to us all.
Great job!
The after party was wonderful, even if I left early. A entertainment area that only John would have.
It was very nice to be asked back.
Thank You
Spell check a must!

What a wonderful evening! It was beyond expectations and so
worth waiting out the 5 hour flight delay it took to get there! Thanks so much to all who organized the party. The only regrets are that the night flew by and I never did stop talking long enough to see the photos and the film show.
And to John and Lolly thanks for the "after party"...not sure I've stayed out 'til almost 2 am since some "tails" games on the beach!
Oh, what a night.

Thanks for such a great party, Chip and I had a great time. John, Lolly, Suzie, Janet and Jeff - we appreciate all your hard work, great success. Can we continue to download photos on to the site? I have some good ones from the party.
Thank you again, it was terrific.

GREAT PARTY!!!!! To those of you who couldn't make it, you missed a great time. Memories flowed. The slide shows were great and the Miles' movies were priceless. Just makes me miss the P House more and more. To John, Lolly, Suzie, Janice and Jeff, be proud because it was a wonderful evening.
Seeing Grimm, Hennessey, Sully, Gilmour, T. White, Greg, never Todd, Hemleb and all the rest, brought back great memories.
And, all you girls look as good as you did those couple of years ago when we all attended the best Beach Club that ever existed.
"Paved paradise and put up a parking lot" to coin a phrase. Suzie if you and the others can stand it I say do it again next year.
Love you all.

hey sorry i missed u. uncle Richard King and I are at W.B. N.C. ya'll have fun.
Kathi tried to convince me attend the reunion and she almost had me. I was checking out flights etc. Unfortunately, I will have visitors to entertain here so I can't be there. I'm sure Kathi will have many stories to tell and pictures to accompany those stories. Hopefully everyone will have so much fun that another reunion will have to be planned in the not so distant future. Great pictures on the website. Hope to see more after the event. Feel free to email, love to hear from you. annesecj@aol.com

I bumped into Tony Mellaci and son Tom at the dermatologist on Monday as I was having stitches removed from my chest for another mole removal - the cost of so much time in the sun is semi- annual check ups and so far I'm five for five. So, Tony fills me in on this reunion and now I have to make some serious adjustments to my social calendar to see if I can make it. This weekend happens to be my Mom's 85th birthday, my son's college graduation, my confirmation, the longboard open in Asbury Park and my new band's premiere at the Wonder Bar, but I will figure out a way to be there. Since I have told my wife almost all the Peninsula House stories, I will also need to acquire a waiver. If my memory still works, the best looking women were always at the Peninsula House, so I will do my best to make it!
I wish I could join all of you...I have such wonderful memories of the old P House days! Unfortunately we are having my mother's 80th birthday SUPRISE party on the same night. Hopefully there will be another reunion following!
I have some old photos that I'd be happy to send in if it's not too late. Have a great time!!!

I am really looking forward to Saturday, where is Gary Sammon? I saw his picture but not his name on the list. I know I am dating myself but who remembers Buddy Loselento (sp), Don Laurie and Bruce Goodman? They were the dreamy lifeguards.
I stand corrected, my mother advises me that Mr. Abrahams convertible was pink!
Unbelievable, I recognize many of the names and miss a few. Abrahams (always the first one there in the AM with his purple convertible), Zeller (we played hide and seek, mostly from Mr. Johnson) Walkers (we are still friends). SOOOO many memories. Mike (Love) taught me to swim; it is so sad that he won't be there. Greased watermelons in the pool. Learning the ally cat in the back room while my parents enjoyed their cocktails, fourth of July with sparklers from Weismans. Those were the days!!!
I'd love to see more pictures; unfortunately any we had are lost. My mom (Janet Miller) lives with me and I would love to bring her, however we just found out and have a prior commitment, please add my e mail to your contact list and if there is ever another reunion, we will definitely try to make it.

I am sorry that I cannot be there Aug 2. I have another event that I must attend. I hope you all have a great time. I cannot wait to hear the stories from my sister Kathi.
Hello, all.
Checking in after GS told me about the "reunion". So many fond memories. So many... We were all lucky to have had it.
Thank you.

Wish I could be there. Some of the greatest times of my life.
Gary S.- How great is that picture of Chris and Johnny M. with dark hair! Seems like only yesterday.
I have a deli and a farm in Florida and can't make it but will be there in spirit. Debbie

We are coming to the party. Looking forward to seeing everyone. I sent in money for 4 tickets. Hopefully it has been received.
Have seen some great posts from old friends but we still have 88 tickets left. Money due by the 25th. If you are in the area and don't sign up, shame on you.
Suzie and Janice went to a lot of trouble to set the reunion and web site up.
Lets see as many old faces as possible.

Maureen Mulheren, can you get your brother, Michael to show. Tell him Mark Molzon and I will be waiting for him on the beach.
Anyone know where the Nagle brothers, Chris, Steve and Peter are/
How about Bobby Nagle, John Blake, Darcy LaFontain (sp?)?
Let's all reach out and find one more friend to attend.
My best,
Michael

What a Great Idea! - I live in Marblehead, Massachusetts and still receive the Two River Times and happen to spot the insert about the party. It would be so much fun to see some old familiar faces from the beach days. I know Susan Kohl Malone and Cheryl Letty Kelly are still in the area and hope that they spot this and can make it. I am going to try and arrange to come down for this. What a howl. Where is Tony Rizzutto on the rsvp list? Anyho, good luck on the final stages of the planning, it should be a great event!
Hi All,
Just visited the site and viewed the photo gallery -- they brought back some fabulous memories. My husband and I moved from Monmouth County to Houston in 2006 and I was so hoping to be able to make the reunion, but work travel and life seem to be getting in the way. As for Vin, he lives in LA and I don't think he'll be able to make it this year either. Rene Hampton, I'll send you an email so we can get back in touch!
I'm sorry I'll miss the festivities, and can't wait to hear the stories.

WOW, A PHouse reunion. I have such great memories..despite the fact I was very young and never got to enjoy the PHouse at it's Peak. I do remember the snack bar, the swim team and the fun end of the season games such as the coin toss and the watermelon in the pool/water polo event....I also remember always getting thrown in the pool my Jimmy Manelow (sp)..Aww...those were the days! Would like to attend..we shall see what the tide brings in!
Can I plan on hearing some Jeff Dalton banjo? Can I share a cocktail or twenty with Eddie Hennessy, Billy Grimm, the Mayor, Mike Love, Dave McHeffy, Rich King, baby Brian Learn, the Ballouz brothers, et al... oh yeah, and Tony Mellaci too! (I'm looking for him to get me home.. and he'll be bartending, if memory serves me )
I got more ass than a toilet seat in those old lockers... I can still smell the musty, salty air.... aahh but I digress.
I'll miss Jack Clevenger, Harold Kelly, Tommy McCarthy, Brent Gifford, and of course, Skippy, the 3 legged pony. etc .. but it sounds like a cool day. TW

Kathi: Great that you are going to make it. Get sister Carla in gear. The rest of you swimmers, ex-workers, and members, get those checks in. Anyone contact the Blake's yet? and, where are the Conley's? How about the Beach's and the Hurley's? Let's go!
An event that cannot be missed. Sending the check today. See you there.
Geralyn and Vinnie -- where are you???
It wouldn't be a reunion without the Delaney's!

Can't wait -- my husband is laughing because I blew off my 30th high school reunion but said I would never miss this reunion! He doesn't "get it"!
Well, if sister Thea can make it I'm sure I can too!
Will be great to see everyone!

I plan on being there, but is Valerio's open that late in the day? I had hoped to meet Steve Clark there for breakfast but please do not tell Mr. Johnson. You know how that works...next thing ya know he will have us beating up mattresses on the 4th floor or forever entering the time clock at all hours, and endlessly raking the gravel over old railroad ties. Which in turn will get Mrs. Johnson on our case, and we'll be looking for lost keys- which isn't easy with a broken wrist... (But I did earn the only double of my career, or is that mixing metaphors or years...??) This is a grand idea, just keep the Rolling Rock away from me...
A great hello to everyone...it's been a while.....
Man.....to play "Tails" with a few of you one more time would be classic.....if I could only shake off the rust on the rules before I embarrassed myself...I really wish I could be there...but, unfortunately, I cannot attend....my wife and I have made plans to take our (3) boys on a trip through Europe during the first 2 weeks of August. But, I will pause wherever I am & toast all of you....if any of you set-up a few of the old rocking chairs & watch a George Miles SR. 8MM Movie...I will very jealous! Have a BLAST & please keep me posted on any other reunions for the future.
I am still live in CA (North of San Francisco) but, come back to NJ occasionally....If anyone wants to contact me, please shoot me an e-mail - peter@triplegoodpromo.com.
